I've been lurking around the I ♥ Faces site and it was so interesting looking at all those wonderful photos. I've decided to join in the fun.
This photo was taken on our trip to Myanmar (Burma) back in 2001. We were visiting yet more temples that day when I saw this old lady just sitting there on the step, with apparently no better thing to do than to light up and smoke this fat cigar.
This is one of my all-time favorites, from all my travel photos. As a Christmas gift that year, Chris had it blown up and framed. Now it hangs, nicely framed, in our hallway.
Do head on over to I ♥ Faces for more interesting and beautiful faces!

Stunning stuff. Just what is the etiquette when photographing strangers? Do you stand really far away with a 300mm lens or do you ask first? And what if you don't share a language? I've always wondered and just been too woose to go out there and snap the more interesting people who live round me.
That's a wonderful picture!!! My picture is of a stranger today as well!!
Glad you decided to join in at I ♥ Faces!! you'll have lots of fun!

What a great shot...and thanks for the website link. Apparently the rock I've been living under is rather large.
Holy Smokes that's a big cigar!
Awesome image! Like MrsW above me, I also wanted to ask about photographing strangers. It seems like the hardest thing to do for me.
Nice photo. Of course had you been in Jamaica this would have been a spliff. Excuse me. My 1960-'70s California childhood is showing...But seriously, nice photo. I had never heard of I heart faces.
Whoa, great shot. That is a serious cigar! This works perfectly in sepia too!
Glad you jumped into the fray this week! Be careful, it's addicting... :)
yes, I would have framed that one too!
Fantastic. My camera is begging me to get over to that side of the world...soon. Thanks for sharing!
Perfect shot!! Sepia compliments it soooo well!
Wow, that is a great photo. I bet that trip was quite the experience for you.
This is really incredible. I have got to work up the nerve to take pics of strangers.
Wow! That's one awesome picture! I love it!
This is so funny! I just found your blog yesterday, while looking for some Asian Mommy Blogs. We are moving to China next year with our two children and I wanted to have some blogs in my reader that might give me some good perspective on the culture. And now here you are on I Heart Faces! I super love that shot, btw.
What a poignant photo. Beautiful moment you captured.
Wow - that's amazing.
And like others... I've wanted to take pictures of strangers, but never had the nerve!
This is such a cool photo! I'm sure it looks fantastic framed in your hallway :)
