A Traffic Ticket and Awards

Yes, I was "awarded" a traffic ticket this afternoon.  I was actually planning to take the bus, but because it poured so heavily this morning, I decided to drive instead.  Even though I knew that I could get to Happy Valley in just 20 minutes, I left the house at 14:00 to make it to my 15:00 meeting.  l had to circle around to find parking.  The only street parking available were for 15-minute slots.  I then decided to park at the HK Sanatorium. I was stuck in traffic and then I saw a break in the road on my left and saw that it would lead me directly to the Sanatorium. I took it. I stopped, waiting for a break in traffic so that I could proceed. A traffic officer tapped on my window and informed me that I had made an illegal turn. Where was the sign?! Ugh! He pointed it out, but I still couldn't see it. I was going to be late and I didn't want to argue. He probably had a quota to meet. After he issued me the ticket, he graciously directed traffic so that I could pass through illegally. Yeah, a service that cost me HK$450.

On to more cheerful "awards"... Stephanie from A Pocket Full of Buttons has given me these two wonderful awards. Thanks, Stephanie!

1. Friends Award
This award is bestowed on to blogs that are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award.

2. One Lovely Blog Award

Rules: 1. Accept the award, post it on your blog together with the name of the person who has granted the award and his or her blog link. 2. Pass the award to 15 other blogs that you have newly discovered. Remember to contact the bloggers to let them know they have been chosen for this award.

Because I don't want to break any more rules today and because I really think these are blogs worth visiting, I am going to be good and pass these two awards along to -

I hate when you can't see the sign! Seriously on some days wonder if there is a ploy! LOL Congrats on the award!

I received a similar ticket about a year ago on a hugely rainy day with a 'full diaper stinky baby' strapped in the carseat. Fun, fun! Sorry about the ticket but, congrats on the awards!
Have a lovely (ticket-free) weekend!

Thank you so much for the wonderful awards!

So sorry about the ticket but, I've heard that if you sneeze and are dripping boogers everywhere, the officers will tell you to go on with just a warning. Apparently, they don't want to catch a cold. I'm not sure if it works or not but it may be worth a try if there's a next time.
