A Be-yew-ful Moment

I was in the washroom, standing in front of the mirror.  Getting ready to go out, just brushing on some finishing powder, because I didn’t want to look all shiny and sweaty in the awful heat.  I was hurrying, because I didn’t want to be late.  Brush, brush, brush…

Then I saw Zoë in the reflection.  She was standing by the door, looking at me. When she saw that I’d spotted her, she said softly, “Be-yew-ful, Mommy. Be-yew-ful.”

My breath caught. Could I love this sweet little girl any more than I already do?

So what if we’d be late? I turned around and scooped her up and rained kisses on her sweet cheeks.

I smiled while reading that. I think kids are the best self esteem boosters ever. Baby Boo always says, "You booful, Momo."

How come my sons never once said that about me??!!! Is it a daughter thing? My little niece said that to me though.

My son said that to me once. But he said, "So handsome, mommy". I still felt like a queen.
