“I Tell You (a) Joke”

It is amazing how having an older sibling can make such a big difference on the things the younger child learns.

The other night, after lights-out, Zoë loudly whispered, “I tell you joke, Mommy, okay? Why did chicken cross road?”

Indulging her, I whispered back, “Why, Zoë?”

“Because want get other side road and eat watermelon! Get it?” *Giggle, giggle*

Zoë: Who take all soap from bathroom, Mommy?
Me: I don’t know. Who took all the soap from the bathroom, Zoë?
Zoë: Rob-ber ducky! Get it? *Giggle, giggle* Funny, Mommy! *More giggles*
These are a couple of the jokes that Josh has been telling lately and I guess Zoë must have been listening as Josh would tell them to us over and over again.

What kills me, though, is that Zoë would squeak “Get it?” after she gives the answer each time, thinking herself so clever. I’m utterly beside myself with her cuteness when she does that!

I wish you all a little child like Zoë in your life and the refreshing joy that she brings.

Zoe is such a sweetie. I've got Baby Boo here this weekend and I am sure wishing Zoe was here to influence her on the potty training. She has peed in her pants 5 times as well as the couch cushions and all of that. She is beyond bright...talks up a storm....but doesn't care a bit about wearing big girl panties. Bribery doesn't work either.

Loved Zoe's jokes...a robber ducky! hahaha

It's not FAIR! *insert more whining here* The Tongginator is, like, three years older and still can't manage a joke with an appropriate punch line. Her jokes last 10+ minutes and make no sense. Maybe she needs lessons from Josh... or goodness, even Zoe. LOL.

Oh good HEAVENS, she's a treat! Love it.

My little brother used to tell jokes when he was a kid. LONG LONG LONG jokes. And they all ended with an alligator.

And that was the funny part. "An alligator!!! Get it?"

Heh. At least Zoe's make sense!

My little sister's favorite joke was a version of the chicken crossing the road where the punch line was simply the word "truck".

"Why did the chicken cross the road, Mama?"

"I don't know, why?"

"Truck!!" (gales of laughter...)

That is so cute, especially the get it part! It's a funny thing that she's learning how to deliver a joke!

Oh yes, the cuteness factor is off the scale on that one.
