The other night we had a little walk after dinner. A little walk that turned into a mighty run for Josh.
We walked along the water until we reached the stadium. Josh and Zoƫ charged right in to that part where you can do 100-meter sprints and began racing up and down.
Here is Josh, pretending to be on the starting block…
…and he’s off!
Then we eventually made our way inside the stadium. It’s open to the public when there are no events scheduled and most of the residents around here make use of it for jogging or just leisurely walks around the track.
N, Josh’s “cousin friend” for the past week, who had been visiting with us and who just turned 11 that night, decided to do one lap around the track. Josh decided to join the race. The two of them were really running… running… on a hot and humid summer night. No slowing down until they did an entire lap.
Here’s Josh catching his breath after chasing N around the track. His face practically the same color as the track! I asked him why he didn’t just stop and rest. He told me that he needed to chase after N because she was “too fast.”
Boys! They get so competitive so early on.

Tomboys, too, get competitive at an early age. And they don't outgrow it!!
That's so cute! You can tell he had really been exerting himself. :)
ha that is sooooo true!!! He is just tooooo cute!
Heh...competitive and MASOCHISTIC. I cannot IMAGINE running on a muggy summer night. Ugh.
Looks like they had fun, though!
I bet he slept GREAT that night!
Awwww, those are great pics! Boys are so competitive, aren't they? My sons are the same way with one another....they're always trying to out-do each other! I bet he slept great that night!
LOL! The competitiveness may be kicking in early, but goodness, look what it does to his adorable cheeks! Rosy! ;-)
Competitive and super sweaty! That's a boy!
Whoa - showers for everyone!!
It reached the 40's where I am. It's a little chilly here.
Whatever it takes to get them worn out.
I just love boys :) Mine tries to 'race" his sister, too-- nearly five years his elder!
Look at that sweating, flushed boy. He doesn't look put out at all though!
Especially when girls are involved...
