Fireworks : Our Life with Josh and Zoë

Fireworks (Oct 1, 2009)
Josh presented me with this when I got out of bed this morning. He said that he had wanted to make me two “presents” for my birthday. He made me a birthday card and wrote me a song (Present #1), which both he and Zoë sang to me with gusto on the big day itself. Josh said that he had also wanted to give me fireworks… but that he “needed to put in many, many colors” and so it’s only now that he’s giving it to me.
Being around Josh and Zoë, it’s like having fireworks every day. Some days are brighter than others, some days a bit more toned down. Some days are loud with lots of sparkles and gimmicky tricks; other days, just a lone Roman candle shooting flares up –no fanfare, just trails of light to acknowledge the blessing of being parents to these two. And then there are those days when the fireworks just won’t light up, because maybe it’s one of those days when things just don’t seem to go the way you want them to. But the ‘presence’ of fireworks is always there –lit or unlit, full spectacle or solo recital.

What a lovely sentiment.

And interestingly enough (from your post yesterday) - Emily brought home a book about Helen Keller last night and at the back of it was a sign chart. She was VERY interested in it and kept spelling all of our names. I think I might try and find a sign class for her.
