Do you remember the movie American Pie (1999)? The one line from the whole movie that stuck was “This one time, at band camp…” One of the characters from the movie would almost always start her sentences with that, and always in the same tone (like with a question mark at the end of phrase, even though she’s not asking a question). *I can’t believe I just admitted to having watched that movie AND even remember a line!*
The reason I bring that up is that today, when Zoë came home from playing downstairs, –the minute she burst through the door, even before she took off her shoes,—she was jabbering away. I was trying to piece together what she was saying before I realized that she was telling me a story. There were a lot of “then one night…” Almost every other sentence.
Apparently she was playing with a 7-year old girl and this girl was telling about what happened to her one night. Zoë, not to be outdone, immediately started her own tale of what happened to her one night…
Here she is, repeating her story for you. It’s not as long as when I first heard it, but pretty much all the elements were there (volcano, dolly, orange, daddy catching her when she fell…)
Have a great weekend!

She's so adorable! Have a great week :)
I think she's holding her feet so much because she burned them walking through the hot lava from the volcano. Or maybe not...
I had to watch it again. My favorite part is when she talks about the scary ghost!
OMG, she's adorable...I just wanna squeeze her. I love how she cupped her hands together when she said, "and daddy catch me like this". She talks just like Garrett does...I could listen to it all day long! So cute!!!
Everytime someone starts at sentence with "And then one time....."
We always finish with "At band camp".... sometimes people laugh, and those who haven't seen the movie look at us like we have lost our minds.....
they might just be on to something......but that movie was so funny!
Adorable daughter...
What an amazing story-teller!! And a cute one too!
Hahaa, she is so cute! I love that she was pointing to the volcano, like yes! it's really over there! Haha. And then "the end". So funny!
So cute! She's going to be an author someday :-)
I'm just now catching up on my emails but Girl, that is priceless. She reminds me of Spanky on the Little Rascals when he's telling the babies a story and the one keeps saying, "Remarkable".
I love how she ended the story and knew that it was where she wanted it to stop.
