A Little Christmas Every Night

This is what we do every night once the Christmas tree is up.

After dinner, we turn off all the lights in the room and turn on the Christmas lights and play Christmas music.  We all then have a little “party” –singing along to the carols, dancing around.

Zoë is totally excited about Christmas. This morning when she woke up, she didn’t come to our bed as she would do every morning; instead, we found her sitting on the floor, gazing up at the Christmas tree. Also, now whenever we want her cooperation on anything, we just have to invoke Santa’s name and it’s like magic.

We probably won’t start putting presents under the tree until closer to December at least. I don’t know how much of Josh’s and Zoë’s restraint we’ll be testing by putting out the presents early.

When do you start putting presents under your tree?

You already have your tree up? That's so nice. We are waiting until the end of November (will probably be the beginning of Dec., actually). Not sure when we will start with the presents. We're excited for it, though!

Wow, you already have your tree up??? You are on the ball!

I absolutely LOVE that picture. The way Zoe is lightly touching the tree, with Josh's arm on her shoulder. That would make a perfect picture for a Christmas card!

We'll probably put our tree up during the Thanksgiving weekend. We don't put the presents under the tree until Christmas eve after the kids are in bed. They have no restraint at all.

Awww and I thought you'd include a video of them singing (and you too) Christmas carols. Now, I know that it seems a bit too early to listen to carols but I'm there when it comes to hearing the kids sing it, all year long!

Actually, we decorate our tree the day after Thanksgiving. When the girls were little, we only put the presents out when the girls were sound asleep on Christmas eve unless the gifts were from family or friends or us, instead of Santa.

I think the anticipation would be so very long. Since you don't do Thanksgiving, what is a holiday that is similar there?

I usually put them out as I buy them and wrap them. But oftentimes, I'm lazy on wrapping and I'll do a big session the week before.

That sounds so festive! My kids love doing things like that too!!

Normally, I don't put the kids gifts out till Christmas day, because quite frankly, I don't trust them..lol. I know they will sneak a peek!

At our house, the presents go out Christmas eve after our little one has gone to bed. You should have seen her saucer like eyes last Christmas morning. For her, it was like Magic!

Your tree is lovely, certainly will keep your little ones occupied until Christmas!

Oh, that's wise. Prezzies under the adored tree while Mama is still sleeping? Hmmmmm.....tempting fate there.

The picture is totally adorable!

Oh what a sweet picture...I love that he has his hand on her like that...it reminds me of my two.
We do the exact same thing after dinner(once our tree is up)dance and sing songs. They love it. As soon as it starts getting dark they ask to turn on the lights so they take turns being the one to turn them on. Then in the mornings, I will find them just sitting in front of the tree looking at it in adoration...and then of course if it is still dark out the lights must come on! :) I am looking forward to having our tree up now that you have reminded me of such lovely memories.

Santa puts the presents under our tree once all the kids are asleep. I love the look on their faces when they come down the steps and see all the presents. Also it keeps them from peeking early!

Ooooh, this will be a tough one for us, since this will be our first Christmas with a child who can actually get into a bit of mischief! LOL! Our son is not yet at the point where if we tell him not to touch something, he actually listens. So, though we usually put our tree up after Thanksgiving, I may have to hold out for two weeks before Christmas!

What a great family tradition. Love the pic of the kids admiring the tree! Last year we put the presents out the night before. This year we are traveling to Dallas to be with family on Christmas and we'll have to put the presents out that night.

At our house, the presents don't come out until the kids go to bed on Christmas Eve - Santa has to bring them. Then we use baking soda and a stencil of a footprint and put "snow" footprints on the fireplace and on the carpet leading to the tree.

Silly Santa tracked in snow.... :)

What sweet little kiddos. When my son was two we had to wrap presents three times. They didn't go out until we were ready to open them until the punks were older and feared what mama might do if they touched them. Heeeheehe!

Have a beautiful day. I'm gonna, the sun if finally shining in the Ozarks!!!

I'm hoping to bring up some of our decor and start filling the house with holiday majic. We put extended family presents under the tree from us to them as we wrap them. Love this time of year so much!!!
