Flower Girl

She used to say that she wants to be a pumpkin when she grows up. Now if we ask her, she says that she wants to be a flower.

Can any of you tell me how long we still have before we can’t just scoop the kids up and give them big momma hugs and squeezes and shower kisses on their sweet cheeks –and have them squeal in delight and not push us away? How long before we’d be content to just smile big in our hearts when we see them, without having to give in to the urge to hold them close?
Edit: Here is a beautiful video (The Gift of an Ordinary Day) that I just watched over at Hope Studios. Now my eyes are all puffy.

I'm happy to say we are not quite there yet. We still get to scoop and smooch whenever we want to. Wish it could last forever!

My son is 14-year old and he doesn't like to be hugged or kissed anymore. I think once kids become teenagers, they grow away from you to become yound adults. My eldest daughter is 8 and she still hugs and kisses me and says 'I love you' everyday. Not sure if she will become detach from this when she gets older.

I couldn't finish the video...I got up to like 6 minutes and then had to stop it because I couldn't see through my tears anymore. Does it really go by that quickly? I can't imagine seeing their boxes in the back of our mini-van as we take them off to college...or actually sitting across from my husband at our empty dinner table.

It really makes you feel more grateful for these moments we have with them today. I'm gonna try my best to remember this video when I'm aching for silence or a moment to myself.

Thank you for sharing this! And could Zoe be any cuter?? I can see why you'd want to spend each and every day scooping her up into your arms and smothering her with kisses!

You have plenty of time. Just take it moment by moment.

I love the pic of Zoe with the flower in her hair.

Yes, we celebrate CNY. We have the reunion dinner, exchange cookies and angpows and wear new clothes on the 1st day of CNY!

Love that pic of your little flower child. My twelve and a half year old grandson still comes and sits in my lap for some Grandma Muzzie lovin'. I laugh 'cause he is almost as bigger than I am so I tell him soon we are just goin' to have to switch places and we both laugh!

You have lots of lovin' left out of your two sweeties.

God bless and have a wonderful day!!!

I can't get over the fact that it is green there and your kids aren't wearing coats.

It's 10 degrees here, dead of winter and I can't take a pic of my kid outside b/c she's covered up too much.

Let the scooping commence until...well, until they're bigger than we are! LOL

My daughters sometimes give the the cheek, but that's okay 'cause they're yummy and I love kissing them. My son is okay with lip kisses, though, and they ALL LOVE snuggles and big hugs. I think you still ahve a good while.

That is so cute that she wants to be a pumpkin or flower. My son wants to be a transformer or Superman.

Let's hope for your sake that day is far, far away!!!! Your little Zoe is so very cute!!!!! I think she would be quite the cutest pumpkin or flower!

Mine still love me giving them hugs and kisses! Well I take that back. My oldest daughter is not the touchy/feely type, but she will be affectionate toward me when "she's" in the mood. I'll take what I can get!
