It wasn’t until I was more than halfway through this post that I’d realized that the “Places I Love” theme this week on iheartfaces has the emphasis on “love.” Makes sense, with Valentine’s Day coming up and all. My original take on the theme had a broader interpretation, but the photos work just as perfectly for the “romantic” theme, too, because the places featured here are all places that Chris and I had been to –without the kids, places that we’d love to go visit again… but maybe with the kids, too, next time.
1) Antibes Juan-les-Pins. It is a most beautiful seaside Mediterranean town between Nice and Cannes. I’d dearly love to visit again and this time, I will definitely remember to bring spare batteries with me or at least remember to charge up my batteries before I go into town clicking away! I could easily lose myself in the beauty of this place. The water, the colors, the cafes...
2) Paris. When I think of Paris, the first thing that comes to mind is not the Eiffel Tower, not the Louvre, but the bridges along the Seine. I think more than anything in Paris, I love leisurely walks by the Seine --crossing the bridges above, while the bateaus chug their way through the waters below.
3) The beach. Especially ones with seemingly endless stretches of soft, powdery-white sand. This photo was from our honeymoon in Mexico. The water was much too cold for a swim (December!), but the weather was just perfect for a nice stroll.
4) The Ritz-Carlton (now Bvlgari) in Bali. I could easily laze around by the pool side for hours, reading a book or dreaming about the divine couple’s spa treatment booked for the afternoon.
5) If you are into scuba-diving, diving in a cenote is a most unique experience. During our honeymoon in Mexico, we had the opportunity to dive in this sinkhole. Basically, we were diving in fresh water, inside a cave. The part that you see here is the surface, above ground, where people could snorkel. We eventually made our way into the recesses of the cave, underground. It was a bit claustrophobic, but at the same time, it was surreal.
6) The photo below was taken when we were in Sipadan-Mabul, when I was three months pregnant with Josh. While I didn’t get to scuba with the rest, I got to hear all about their sightings of hammerhead sharks, rays, etc. and lived vicariously through those tales when they came back from their dives.![]()

I loved visiting all these places with you today : ) What a fun post! I did the same thing as you. I had my favorite places all ready to go but they were not romantic at all! Yours are madly romantic! I hope you get to be around some pretty water soon! XO
You are incredibly lucky to have been able to see such beauty in person!!!
Wow! That first shot is just amazing. The shape of the hammock (repeated in inverse on the umbrellas) is stunning and so organic. Love it.
I have to agree with you about Paris. The bridges on the Seine are exquisite.
Gorgeous photographs. I like the water too, but I'm a bigger fan of sitting next to it with a good book rather than getting IN it. :)
lovely place
You have been to such amazing places. The dive in the cave sounds like a great experience. Isn't the beach the best place? I don't think I've found any place like it that makes me feel so at peace besides my own home.
I photographed many bridges and doors in Paris. It's the only place on your list I've visited! But now, I have more to add to my list :)
Wow, you have been to so many beautiful places. Those shots are gorgeous! Have a great week!
You are so well traveled! That cave looked amazing. Scuba diving would terrify me. I get nervous in the water... which is weird growing up in Huntington Beach.
I just know I'll be going back thru these pictures later today :)
I am SO craving a beach to lie on right about now.
