Ocean Park

We have annual passes to both Disneyland and to Ocean Park. The kids are equally thrilled to be going to either one. Lately, we’ve been going to Ocean Park more. Mainly because it’s nearer –a 30-minute drive vs. a 1-hour drive. And better value for money. I also find Ocean Park less commercial and more “educational” for the children.

We get to see real animals – pandas, jellyfish, seals, dolphins, manta rays, giant sea turtles, otters, goldfish, crocodiles, sharks, parrots, etc.

We get to ride cable cars, simulation subs (actually a train), and a hot-air balloon. There are fun interactive games and exhibits.

There are bands, live shows and acrobatic performances.

Like Disneyland, the children get to pose with the different characters, too.

But best of all, I get photo ops like these…

Don’t get me wrong, we love Disney and nothing really replicates the Disney magic, but it feels like there is so much more to do and see at Ocean Park. What I’ve shown and mentioned above do not even begin to cover half of what Ocean Park has to offer. And they are still expanding and will be introducing new sections to the park. We will definitely try to get a few more visits in before the weather gets any warmer and more humid than it already is now.

Is Ocean Park an amusement park as well?

It looks like so much fun! Josh seems totally thrilled to have his picture with the turtle. That must be one of his favorite characters.

Beautiful pictures!

Cable car simulation rides? If you ever visit San Francisco, we're known for our famous cable cars. The weather must be nice and pleasant in HK. It's cold and raining in SF. I heard that HK has a Disneyland but didn't hear about Ocean Park. Well see, now I know.

I never had any desire to go to Disneyland as a child, but I definitely would have loved Ocean park. Those photos are so cute - the one with the drum is just priceless.
