Are there certain kinds of food that you know for sure your kids will never turn down? Food that are healthy enough that you make sure that you have them for those “just in case” times when you’re worried that they might get picky on you?
Ours is corn. Both Josh and Zoë love corn –corn cob, corn kernels, creamed corn soup. Please ignore her frown here. That’s just Zoë practicing her “take me seriously” look.
Egg is another, although Josh loves this more than Zoë does. If we let him, Josh would be happy having eggs for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It doesn’t matter how it’s prepared –scrambled, sunny side up, soft-boiled, hard-boiled, steamed, poached, –he’ll gladly wolf it down.
Our go-to veggie is broccoli. Josh used to call them “trees.” Fruits? Pretty much any fruit, but especially apples, grapes, and blueberries. Zoë loves fruits, any kind –even durian! Josh’s favorite is pineapple. If I can’t get it fresh, we sometimes use canned pineapple chunks to make sweet and sour dishes and Josh would chow it down.
What are your go-to foods?

I'm really surprised about the broccoli. I didn't like that until I was an adult.
My kids loved corn too and for fruit they loved berries, strawberries especially.
My kids are completely opposite eaters so our go-to foods differ for each. My older one could happily eat watermelon, grapes, and yogurt for the rest of his life. My younger one I'd have to say salmon and edamame (can you tell she was born in Japan?). Of course these are the healthy go-tos. YOu don't want to see my list of the foods I grab when I'm desperate!
Mine always loved carrot and celery sticks with ranch dressing. And that corn definitely looks yummy!
Your daughter is just too, too cute!
Oh golly gee, I cook so much here on the Ponderosa and I cook it from scratch. If I had to pick one go to that always pleases it's gotta be the popcorn. :o)
Zoe is so gosh darn cute attacking that corn!
God bless and have a fab day!!!
First off let me just say ... Zoe is so beautiful! That little look on her face says "I know exactly what I want!"
I wish I had a go-to for the grandkids ... One in particular is soooo picky. I always feel very guilty when I send him home ... he barely eats anything. He's the same at home. He did have grilled chicken strips the other day ... I was so surprised! There is hope!
Great post!
Hrm...both my kids like broccoli. Bananas are our absolutely FAVORTE fruit among the kid set here. Dried cranberries and raisins are always a hit...and green grapes.
Oh, and I like to make oatmeal bars to munch on when we're out and about. Oats, eggs, oil, flour, sugar, salt, vanilla, spices...and whatever dried fruits I can chop into bits. Healthier than "normal" cookies, and filling!
You have great eaters. We all love broccoli too. Go to foods - waffles, chicken (grilled, nugget form), pasta with sauce. My oldest is the best eater. The younger ones are getting there...slowly.
That's so cute eating that corn like that. Our daughter loves eggs too and fresh strawberries. Loves fresh fruit on her cereal.
Nice. A girl who is serious about her corn-on-the-cob!
R is a corn and broccoli nut too...along with any fruit (she says her favorite food is 'sweets'...groan)...noodles and rice are always lovingly accepted as well.
M.
OHHH we love corn here i cant wait for it too come in season here!!! LOVE your corn eating beauty!
Pasta. vegetable Fried rice. Carrots. Cauliflower can be "hidden" with fried rice. Plus the veggies make it colorful. Plus they love sugar snap peas....
My grandbaby loves sweet potatoes! And eggs He would eat them morning noon and night if you let him.
Oh..my kids love corn too..served any way! Surprisingly, they do like broccoli, and also salads. As far as fruit, they like them all!
We love, love, love corn!! :)
Her facial expressions are priceless. Your posts today and yesterday have gotten so much attention from Baby Boo. She says, "What her name?" "Why she like corn?"
So cute!
Chicken nuggets. Although not all that healthy. :)
My little one loves corn (especially corn on the cob) and pasta.
My kids love corn on the cob too. Its a winner when I need a vegetable!
She loves durian??? Wow.
As for us, the go-to healthy foods are pretty much everything, but especially berries, broccoli, corn, peas, apple and watermelon.
My baby is a picky eater, she only loves cherry tomatoes, grapes, guava and pomelo. I wish she would eat like Zoë...
My kids' favorites are waffles, bananas and broccolis. Thank goodness! My daughter loves durian and it really surprises many adults because they think the smell of this fruit is too strong for kids. I think it's because I ate a lot of durian when I was pregnant with her :)
My husband loves corn on the cob, as well! He just saw the picture of your little one over my shoulder, and commented on how adorable she is. She completely is!
Eggs for us here, too! Judah's favorite food. Although blueberries might run a veeery close second...
Cute pictures. We love corn on the cob here!
