Hard to believe, but we already have an application for a son-in-law.
And I'd thought that we'd have around 20+ years before we'd even have to think about something like that.
D, one of Josh’s classmates, had a birthday party last Friday. Zoë was invited, too. It was a very special party where the kids got to pick carrots, potatoes, feed the rabbits, etc. (Yes, this was at the same farm that I posted about recently.)
Halfway through feeding the rabbits, Zoë wandered off. We found her and D in the flower shed next to where we were feeding the rabbits.

As we headed to look at the peacocks and the guinea fowls, D and Zoë were holding hands. Then we made our way over to the rows of potatoes. D and Zoë both hung back and decided to sit by a fish pond.

When we walked back to the house for the cake-cutting, they were still holding hands. Zoë made sure that she got to sit next to D at the table.

When we said our goodbyes, D leaned in gave Zoë a gentle peck on her cheek. Zoë just stood there, as if it was the most natural thing in the world. It was so cute!
Fast forward to Sunday. Josh and D are in the same religious education class. After Mass, I took Zoë with me to pick up Josh from his class. I chatted a bit with D’s mom, while waiting for Josh to get ready. Before we knew it, we saw D and Zoë walking around the classroom --again, holding hands! When they stopped to get a cookie, he again leaned in to kiss Zoë. Later on, D handed her a breadstick. We said goodbye and D gave Zoë another kiss. I could barely contain my amusement at how sweet and innocent they are.
Out we went to the courtyard where we saw D’s sister, who asked, “Is that the breadstick I just gave D? He loves breadsticks.” Zoë and I sat down on a bench to wait for Josh who ran off to get himself a cupcake. D and his dad walked by. D looked at Zoë’s breadstick, which was half gone, nodded, and said, “Good. You love breadsticks.” Like he was mentally ticking off one more thing that got him to like Zoë. *Giggles*

This morning, I’d received an phone message from D’s mom: “D asked me this morning if he could marry Zoë…and why? Because husbands are supposed to be taller than their wives, and everybody in K2 and 3 is taller than he is!… I would LOVE to have Zoë for a daughter-in-law!”
I TOTALLY wouldn’t mind having D as a son-in-law, either, especially if he remains as sweet as he is with Zoë! Chris and I are really quite tickled by this whole thing. So, so sweet.
I asked Zoë why D kissed her. She told me, "Because him loves me."

Oh, so cute!!! I love the innocence, he must be getting a very good upbringing at his home to be so sweet and affectionate. Keep him on the short list!!!

My husband has already said his little girl isn't getting married...I just give him a little reassuring pat on the arm and nod my head, we all know it's inevitable by I figure there's no reason to upset him now.
That's so adorable! Breaks my heart to think about it.
Awww, D sounds like a great possible son in law for you! At least you know that they have a like for breadsticks in common AND D is very affectionate and has no problem with showing his affection. How sweet!
This is so sweet. Their friendships should be treasured.
