No official birthday party for Zoë this year. Instead, we’re going to do a series of mini-gatherings where she gets a cake and gets to blow her candles. For her the thrill is mostly being the star, being the center of all the attention, and getting to be Birthday Girl, have everybody sing Happy Birthday to her, and blowing out the candles.
We did a dry run today. I made a blueberry muffin cake and slapped on a dusky rose frosting. I’m no Bakerella nor am I the kids' godmother who makes these incredibly fabulous cakes. That's okay, because for now, I can still get away with uneven frosting, lazy edges, and crude and simple designs.
Zoë got to practice being the Birthday Girl,
Zoë got to blow her candles, and Zoë got to eat cake!
Zoë is happy!

Wow, I didn't realize that our girls turned 3 just days apart! Happy Birthday to your sweet big girl!!! By the way did I mention our house is exploding with pink?
