Relaxin’ with Tonin’

For the past five years, my music has mostly been kiddie tunes and lullabies. I know the words to almost every kiddie song/CD that we have. Once in a while, though, I need my own music. I love to kick back with good music in the background and curl up with a good book. Sometimes, I listen to classical music, sometimes reggae, sometimes pop/jazz, country, and even Christmas carols, too (yes, even when it’s not Christmas).

One of my favorite feel-good CD’s is Manhattan Transfer’s tonin’. I don’t remember how or when I first discovered this group. Probably sometime around the late 1990’s. Anyway. I absolutely love the group. I love the vocals, the harmonious blending of their voices. I love the happy carefree feel that their music has. Listening to their music, I could almost feel how much fun the four of them had while making the music… and that makes me smile. Every time I listen to them.

Here is a one of their songs from the album Tonin’ " –Just Hang On.

Does this betray my age? Let’s just say that I have mature taste in music, shall we? Ahem. Let’s leave it at that. Okay? Okay.

Oh, they are one of Myrnie's FAVORITE groups of all times. We were in a Jazz Choir in high school, and groups like this were an inspiration to us.

I love me some reggae too! For about a year now I like it really quiet in the car. No music at all. I never thought there would be a day I'd say that. I remember how old I used to think my mom was when she opted for no music. O'well.

I love the Manhattan Transfers but, seriously, I can identify them better not seeing them than if I were to see them. I played the video and had to close my eyes to really hear "their sound". They were here last year in concert. I didn't get to see them but they were here! You've got good musical taste, my friend.

I bought my husband a record player last year for his bday - I love it when the windows are open, a breeze is going through the house and the record player is on....just seems like a simplier time!

Music is timeless...it's not an age thing :-)
I find music very relaxing and often have it on in the background when I am editing photos, my favorite way to relax!

Sorry, but it does betray your age. Then again, I enjoy Chicago, so you can tell mine as well...
