Soccer Class

Zoë had been attending this soccer class since she was 2. This is the same Socatots class that Josh had attended until last December, when I decided to pull him out because his coach (the best we’ve ever had!) was moving away and a friend recommended Hotshots instead.

We loved Socatots. Both Josh and Zoë had really looked forward to their class every week. They got to do drills,

practice moving their leg around a cone while keeping their balance,zoe1

practice their small and big kicks,s

learn about the different parts of the foot (sole, heel, inside, outside…),zoe4
and Zoë’s favorite –zigzags and tippy-toes around the cones.zoe5

BUT, it’s time to move on. We’re transferring Zoë to Josh’s current class, so that both of them have their classes on the same day and I won’t have to do two trips and drive them separately. Josh can hang out at the library while Zoë has her class and Zoë can hang out in the playroom with her friend, L, after their class, while Josh has his.

Zoë’s pretty excited about having the same coach as Josh and she keeps telling us how she’s a big girl now and doesn’t go to Socatots anymore, but will be doing Hotshots from now on.

I love it that Hotshots is conducted at the gym (and not at the small activity room that the other class is in), which means that the kids have plenty of room to run about. I know from watching Josh’s class that his coach makes full use of the entire gym. Another thing I really like is that this particular coach really mixes up the activities and the drills from week to week and keeps things fresh.

With one more afternoon free and with the warmer weather approaching, we can spend the free afternoon at the pool or at the beach instead! I’m so looking forward to that!

Please help out my friend Lindy and head on over to Future Blackmail where she has a giveaway for 16 sets of beautiful handcrafted jewelry (see a sampling below). Lindy is a wonderful step/mother and she writes with wicked honesty and humor. She and her family are raising funds to help defray legal costs of getting full custody of her two stepchildren, whose biological mother had committed a crime. Between now and 11th Apr, everybody who makes a donation will automatically be entered into a draw for one of the 16 sets of amazing handcrafted jewelry. Winners will be announced on 12th Apr.
