I don’t hate durian. I just don’t love it. I’m the only person in this family who doesn’t like it. Chris loves it. Josh and ZoĆ« both love it. Taste-wise, it’s okay. It’s just the smell that I don’t like. I can’t describe it. The only word that comes to mind: Pungent.

I've never heard of it before!
Can't say I've ever had it. It is an interesting looking fruit though.
I've heard that a durian can smell like cat poop. Maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration, but my friend didn't like the smell at all! She said they do taste good. Such a weird fruit!
Never heard of or seen one of those. Now I'm curious...
I've heard of them, but never seen them before!! At least they are cool looking fruit!!
Wow, that is one crazy looking fruit!
never heard of it before. One of the many things I love about blog world... visiting far away places & learning about new weird fruit that I would otherwise not know existed. :)
I've seen this on the Discovery or Cooking channel, but I've never tasted it! :) Not sure I'd want to after hearing that it smells pungent...lol!
Never tasted it, but it looks pretty.
I think I remember seeing that fruit being sold by a vendor when we were in China. When you say 'pungent'...what kind of pungent are you referring to? It is a lovely fruit though...all of those angles and colors. Hope your mother's day was super fantastic!

This is the first time I have heard of it. It definitely looks a bit odd, I am always ready to try new things!
You know what is so funny? I've only heard of this fruit because I have this tree on Farmville (on Facebook)..LOL!
Is it a sweet fruit?
i am not a big fan of it either - just the sight of that has made me not wanting it. i would choose a less smelly fruit given the option but maybe i should be bold and try it. :)
never heard of it either? but makes for an interesting pic! sort of a pineapple with the mumps? Happy WW! Faythe @GMT
I'd like to try it too..just don't know about the cat poop smell..lol..uggh

They remind me of lychee. Are they similar?
I've never heard of it before and you definitely don't make me want to try it. LOL
Are you in China too? Only place I've ever seen a Durian...or smelled one rather :)
How do you get to the good stuff???
Happy Wednesday!
I don't think I would like it either. If it smells, I don't ususally get past the smell.
That fruit scares me and I can't eat anything that gives me the eevie-jeevies. lol I wouldn't even know how to begin to cut it open to even taste it. Can you juice it? Is it high in vitamins and minerals and even worth trying?
I've never had it but it looks neat in a photo. ;)
It sure looks pretty though. I'm thinking I would pass over it just because it looks too daunting to figure out how to cut into it!
I never had it. Interesting looking.
This is new to me! They do make a most beautiful picture!
God bless ya and have a marvelous day!!!

What kind of fruit is that????
I've never seen that before. Whoever was the first person to try it was very brave.
Is this the same as Jack fruit? I have seen it, but never tried it. Does it have a strong smell?
How interesting! I've never heard of it before!
It's been a long time since I visited--I love the new look.
I don't hate durians but I'm not crazy over them either. Hubby can eat 10 whole (small) durians at one go! My Hong Kong cousins can't get enough of them!
Does it really smell rotten?

I am living a shelterd life! I have never heard of this fruit:)
I honestly have to say, I thought I knew about every fruit that was out there. I could not have been more wrong... I wonder what other fruits are out there that I know nothing about!
I love durian! We only have frozen ones here and everyone tells me the fresh ones taste so much better. I believe them. I love durian desserts, ice cream, and cake. The only thing is many of my family can't stand the smell. Oh well, that's too bad for them!
I've tried it.....if it's not super fresh, it just tastes nasty. If it IS super fresh, it's..edible. Lo Gung LOVES it. Someone once described it as rotten onions. Heh.
I've never had it but I've smelled it at the store!
