B-b-b-Bowling!

Bowling had been something that Chris and I used to do quite a bit before the children were born. We have a bowling alley in our clubhouse and there was a time when Chris and I were bowling so much that we actually got our own bowling shoes. I’m glad we didn’t go as far as getting our own balls, although we did consider it at one point.

There’s something very satisfying about knocking down the pins with a heavy ball… These were the balls we used today when we brought Josh and Zoë along. The green ones (6 lbs) were for the kiddies; the orange (8 lbs) for me; and the 10-lb red balls were Chris’.

We were there early and signed up for two 30-minute sessions. It was great as we had the run of the alley. There was not another soul in sight. We got all the balls we needed. The tikesters could walk and run about without us being worried that they would disturb other bowlers.

I’d forgotten to request that they dim the lights so that we could do some cosmic bowling. I bet Josh and Zoë would have gotten a kick out of that. Oh well. Next time.

We all had fun. And because we took it easy this time, I hope Chris and I won’t have sore glutes tomorrow. Josh and Zoë bowled as well, but were more interested in the colored balls, the ball return mechanism, and the cartoons that would come up in-between rolls of the ball. Especially Zoë.

Here is Josh taking his turn. He insisted on wanting to go at it alone, although generally Chris would crouch behind each of them and help them push-roll the ball.

This photo made me laugh out loud! It looked as if Chris just pooped out birthed Zoë, don’t you think?

Wow, that is one NICE (and small) bowling alley. Ours is always dark, dingy and huge. Can I come with you next time?

Do you have a Wii Sports? The bowling there is so much fun. The kiddos would love it too.

Cute pictures. I'm sure Chris would like you to remove the one of him helping Zoe. :)

:D Awesome Today post! What a fun thing to do together...think we'll have to find a bowling alley around here, since the kids would love it!

Fab pics...I love that first one with the balls; they almost look like pieces of fruit or something...and the birthing one is hilarious!

Hope your bums ---ahem---glutes didn't get too sore ;D

And, thanks for your kind comments at my place! I know my posts have been a little lacking lately... ;D

Seriously, I couldn't get past the first pic. If not for the finger holes, I would have mistaken them for fruits: watermelon, tangerine, orange, pomegranate... probably just me ;-P

That last picture is funny! The colors of your bowling balls are so much fun. We have boring old black at our lanes.

Beautiful bowling pics! I used to love going when I was younger. I need to start going again :)

Great photos. I loved the vivid colors of those bowling balls. Almost tropical. I live near a modern bowling alley, something of an anomaly in this third world city. I am planning a trip with some youngsters soon. Pictures are forthcoming. Bowl away!

Okay, so those are some of the prettiest bowling shots I have ever seen. Wow.

But yes, the photo of him seemingly sitting on her head is a riot!

Your first shot of the bowling balls is beautiful...wish I loved the game as much as the colors. I'm horrible at it, but it was fun when the kids were little!

Awesome!!!! We went bowling this weekend too. I thought my kids were going to put a dent in the floor though because they kept launching the balls directly downwards. And one time Diego tried to drop kick the bowling ball. Good thing the bowling shoes are pretty hard. He might have broken a toe otherwise.

That last picture is hilarious! Every time I saw that first picture on Photobucket, I thought it was a picture of perfectly round apples or some kind of fruit :) Now I know -- bowling balls!

My grandma is in her 80's and bowls in 3 leagues. 6 games a week. I have no idea how she does it.
