Being Thankful

 What a week.

1.  Josh’s first full week at school as a first grader.  He had been coming home every day with reward stickers, but on Friday, he didn’t come home with any.  He announced that his teacher had told him that he doesn’t need more stickers, that maybe they’d have to give him something more special, like a medal (!).  He was pretty pleased with himself.  We’re so happy that he seems to have adjusted very well and that he looks forward to school every day.

2.  Zoë also started kindergarten at Josh’s old school, except now she calls it “Zoë’s School.”  I had taken her to school the day before classes officially started, just so that she could freely check out her classroom, meet her teachers, and explore the school.

That seemed to have helped her feel more comfortable about being in a new school, with new teachers and classmates.  She even told me that she “loves” her new school.  The next morning, when I was still busy with sorting out her cubby in school, she changed into her indoor shoes and stood breathing down my neck and asked, “Mommy, can I go in (to the classroom) now?  Now?”  Then when we finally went to her classroom, she just waltzed in, got her name, sat down, and started tracing.  She didn’t even turn around to wave bye-bye to me!  I don’t know whether to be pleased or sad.  A bit of both, I guess.  My baby’s not a baby anymore.

3.  I turned 40.  Yeah, the new 20.  It kind of feels the same way it did as when I became 20. There’s a sense of having “arrived” somehow. Arrived at what, where… I don’t know yet.
~Josh thinks I’m 29.  I see no reason to correct him.
~Please ignore the number of candles on the cake.  We put in as many as we could find, because both Josh and Zoë wanted to help me blow out the candles.

4.  Sunday school started again today –for both of them.  It’s Zoë’s first time.  I’d signed up to assist in her class today and it was rather fun.  When asked what they want to be when they grow up, I heard princess (that would be Zoë), doctor, policeman, teacher… and then there was a boy who announced loudly, “I want to be a Transformer!” with another chiming in, “I want to be Spiderman.”  Too cute!

Josh is in a different class and they made a “thank you” book.   On the last page, they were supposed to draw/write what they want to thank God for.  Scroll down and see what he is thankful for. *smirk*

Thank you, God, for the joy that children bring.

A lot of changes at your place! It doesn't surprise me in the least that Zoe took to school the way she did!

Well, he's got the right idea. He's thankful for everything!

What a big girl Zoe is. Is the house really quiet when they are in school?

No more stickers means that he's done so well that there's just not enough stickers to give him to show how well he's done.

They are both so cute and you know I say that and really mean it.

LOL Out of the mouths of babes! Hurray for Star Wars! Hey, at least he was honest! You have a cute pair there, and they're at a wonderful age right now. I'm starting a new meme if you're interested. I hope you have time to stop by, and check it out. Thanks!

What a great post. Ya know, even though you're a world away from me, I still feel as though we all live such similar lives. I hope you have a great week.

Happy Birthday!! Mine is coming up too. :-) Hope you had a wonderful celebration! I LOVE the picture of your little guy with all his schoolmates. What a great capture; it looks like a brochure advertising a school, and I mean that in a good way! LOL! I love it! :-)

I literally laughed out loud at the "I want to be a Transformer!" LOL! My oldest wants to be a meteorologist, and my middle one wants to be "an obstacle course guy."

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUCKEROOMAMA!! Super mwah!!! 40 is a blast!! I am turning 43 in a couple of days and I must say that the past few years have been the best.

Josh and I are going to get along, I am a Star Wars nut. As a matter of fact, I just watched the whole thing three days ago while at home, writing.
