I decided to avoid the shops in Stanley and all their temptations. Instead I walked down the waterfront and took some photos. It was a rather overcast day… still a bit cold.
Mister Softee

A pre-wedding* shoot

{It’s common here for couples to have their wedding pictures taken before the actual wedding day. They usually have a big wedding portrait ~framed~ on display at the wedding reception. What they do with the portrait afterwards? I’m not sure.}
Shooting the breeze

Three days a week, I “wait.” I wait for Josh and for Zoë while they are at their various activities. But Tuesday is the one day that I can really go walk around, run errands and/or take photos while I wait. The other days? I pretty much have to do my “waiting” at the venue where their activities are held. I chat with the other moms. Sometimes I do Sudoku.
What do you generally do while you wait?

Lovely photos - and interesting to hear about the wedding pic. Maybe that´s a really good idea, because I remember being so nervous at the wedding day that I couldn´t relax at all when taking the pics. I´m not too fond of my wedding pics to tell the truth - I look like a stressed out roe deer! :-D
That first shot is FANTASTIC! I do love your street photography. You capture such fun moments as evidenced in that third shot. =)
These are fantastic. Just love the ice cream truck photo.

Lovely pics. I really miss visiting Stanley.. love the selection of childrens clothes there.
Have to confess about wedding portrait. Guilty! Most of our wedding portraits are in storage somewhere, with only a few 8 X 10 prints decorating our homes and those of our parents. Make us pine for our younger days...
Great shots! I love the first one, so awsome :)
Nice work as always!!

I have a wedding portrait in our living room :) In a way, I think doing the portraits on a different day is smart, but not before. What if the dress gets all dirty before the wedding? :o/ And I love Mister Softee! Glad he's everywhere!
Great photos. Love Mister Softee.
LOVE these! You have such an eye.
great photos! they are all telling different stories! good job!
The two ladies on the beach is just precious! They look like they are really enjoying being together.
I don't know if I'd like to take a picture in my wedding dress before the wedding. What happens if it gets dirty? Or I would like for it to be special as I get into it for the very first time.
Your photos are always so awesome! Really fantastic shots and most definatly worth the "wait". :)
Awesome shots! I love the one of the wedding couple. I can't tell you how much I love impromptu shots on the street. :)
Love the focus of the first shot and the expressions of the women..all great captures!
Cool shots. The second one is my fav!
love the photos..
having a hard time between the first and the ladies..
I love the whimsical miniturized look on the Mr. Softee pic. You really caught the expressions of the two women - one so animated and one almost bored (looks like she could be rolling her eyes). Awesome:)
Beautiful shots - it's common here to have a bridal portrait taken before the wedding to be displayed at the wedding, but the groom doesn't usually see the bride before their wedding day. I think it's a great opportunity to rehearse hair and makeup. :)
LOVELY photos!
I wish I could spend my waiting time taking such beautiful photos, instead, I spend the time watching the clock and chasing a toddler...
I love love love your waiting pictures!! Makes me wish I did more mommy waiting in a bigger city. :)
I love the one of the women on the bench too! I thought the same thing as Lisa : )
The fishing boat... what a stunning photo. I love it! Beautiful photos! :)
I love the one of the ladies on the bench!
Beautiful photos, especially the one of the two women. So precious! xoxo
Sometimes I balance my checkbook. Other times I make up the schedule for Kid's Church and then other times I just enjoy people watchin'!!!
Wonderful moments ya captured, I especially enjoyed the one of the ladies where one looked all excited about the story she had and the other looked like she could care less!
Heeehehehe!!!
I don't 'wait' well!
God bless and have a beautiful day! :o)
All these shots have so much character!!
I think taking photos before the wedding is a great idea! You get to wear that expensive dress more than once & show off how pretty you are ;) I am always in awe of your talents. I try to stay away from the shops, mostly because I don't have any extra $ these days for temptations... so I will read magazines if availble or try to find someone willing to chat, like the special ladies you snapped ;)
Awesome. As always. Why can't I be as amazing of a photographer as you are?! It's almost not even fair!
Love all the shots, and I especially like the fishing boats!
I really enjoy seeing all of the things in your world!
Your shots, as always, are amazing. When I find myslef "waiting", I usually have a good book. I'm going to start carrying a camera!
Loved them. My fav - that lonely boat in the water. I LOVE it!!!
=)
Fabulous captures!!
Your blog looks AMAZING!!! Love your slideshow!! :)
How to pick a favorite? They are all great, but I just love the red in the first shot! But the boat looks so soothing!
I read while I wait or when the kids are at Y classes I work out, or pretend to.
Beautiful shots!!!! I especially love the "pre-wedding" one from afar!!!
I enjoyed exploring Stanley, you are keeping my HK memories fresh until the next trip. Thankyou.
Great photos. I loved the one with the lone boat out at sea...
Beautiful photos! Well done ;)
When I'm waiting I'm generally trying to entertain the rest of my crew. If I happen to have a moment to myself I'll read or catch up on email on my iphone.
Happy Wednesday.
Wow, just amazing photos! Thank you so much for sharing! New follower from Wordless Wednesday. Drop on by and see me if you get the chance, thanks!

Hey sweetie, I realized this mornin' that I was the only one who could see the photos on my last post. Stinkin' Picasa anyway!!! I've reposted usin' Photobucket so pop on over if ya get a chance.
So sorry about that!
God bless and have a great day!!!
I love how well each one tells the story & holds me there for a long while!
I love seeing pictures of your city through your lens...its so interesting! loooove the shot of the boat on the water, there is something serene but a little eerie about it.
Always nice to see such beautiful shots of citylife. I usually read when I have to wait or when I'm on the bus. Always carry a book in my bag.

Love the wedding shot!
Gorgeous photos! I generally just read while I wait, but there isn't much interesting around the places I have to wait at. :)
