Maze Challenge

Do you know those things you see in science museums where you try to maneuver your way around a “hilly” maze of sorts, without once making the bell ring?  You do it with a  handle with a looped wire circle through which you “thread” your way through the maze.  Well, I got my hands on a mini version.

Maze-Challenge

It came in a little “science kit.”  Chris put it together and the kids are having lots of fun with it.  Even I couldn’t resist the challenge.  The wire is pretty bendable and could be adjusted and configured to different skill levels.

Maze2Oops, it touched the wire! {See the spring hitting the bell?}

You would need steady hands.  Really steady… and you would also need to know to angle the circle ever so slightly around the curves.

Or you could do what Zoë does –i.e., turn it off before attempting to thread the wire, so that even if she touches her circle to the wire, the bell would not ding-a-ding-ding!

Do you cheat get creative at games sometimes?

ha! I was totally thinking of that game operation when I first started reading...the one where you get a little zap if you hit the side. glad its only a bell! and yes, I do cheat in games like this...they frustrate me to no end.

Oh, I can never do those things. My kids always can though! Or maybe they are cheating! ;)

I'm with Mindy! I immediately thought of the game Operation too :) I wasn't very good at it though :)

Oooooh, I cannot do those things! And I'm like your Zoe, I certainly turn it off if I get the chance. I just can't handle the pressure of the bell ringing. I hated the game Operation, hahaha.

Looks like fun! My oldest would love it. The youngest would probably turn it off first and the tell everyone that she did the whole thing without one single "ding".

I beat my hubby in this EVERY time... he had hyperthyroidism, so his hands are always shaking ever so slightly ;-P

I would SO fail - my patience with these kind of things isn´t the greatest... So I would most likely become... ehum... "creative" in the end..! :-D

Hope you´re having a great day! :-)

I'm laughing at how Zoe does it! That certainly would take the nerves out of it. What a cool thing to mess around with over there. I'll bet Josh will master that in no time.

That looks like a lot of fun! My son's first shape sorter had a lid that came off easily. When we asked him if he could put the shapes in he looked at us like, well, duh! took the lid off, and put them all in!
