Scavenger Hunt Sunday | Green

1.  Green – We went berry-picking earlier this week and afterward decided to stay and have lunch at the farm where we picked berries.  This guy was manning the waffle station.   Isn’t his Dali-esque moustache cool?

Oh, and the waffles?  They were out-of-this-world super-duper yummy!

2.  Paint – I know I’m stretching this quite a bit, but the colors of this lily look so gorgeous and they look painted on to me…

3. Shapes – Note the different shapes on the top that this Thai lady is wearing…

4. Clouds – I would have thought this prompt would be easy, but there wasn’t a cloud in sight (not when I have my camera out, that is!).

(I have limited access to the Internet until about mid-August, but hopefully, I will be able to get back to more regular blog posts and visiting by then. I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer!)

Night Out

Saturday nights are date nights.  Chris and I go out for dinner.  Nothing fancy usually and we don’t really venture too far.  Last Saturday, though, Chris had some overseas colleagues in town and we took them out to Wooloomooloo Steakhouse.

The food, though a bit pricy, was fantastic.  After dinner, we went one floor up to the open-air rooftop bar.  The view up there?  Was amazing.

I absolutely dislike the smell of cigarettes and I don’t enjoy going to bars because of that, but because this one is open-air, I didn’t mind as much.

I had fun people-watching.  Groups of young people out for a carefree night, dressed to be seen, throwing their heads back as they laugh with abandon.  I caught snippets of look-at-me, see-how-cool-I-am kind of lines being bandied about.  A very interesting scene.  Made me wonder if that was how we appeared to other people when we were younger and used to visit bars back in our days.

This picture below is what I saw when I looked up.  It made me dizzy.  Because the clouds were moving, it felt like the building was swaying.  (No, I did not have any alcohol.)  I thought it looked kind of cool, though… like a scene you might see in a Batman movie, don’t you think?

10 July 2012

It has just been a little over a week since school was out.

What have we been up to?

Let’s see...

We’ve gone to the beach to ride the waves.

We hang out at the pool.  I sneak in my little camera to take pictures of the kids.

It is such a joy to see Josh and Zoë frolicking in the water.  Zoë, especially since she has decided that she could swim, has just been a little goldfish wiggling around here and there.  She would swim from one end to the other then back again, barely pausing to catch her breath.  She would dive to go through between our legs, surface, then with a deep breath, dive down again.  And again.  And again.  No wonder she is totally tuckered out afterwards!

In between, she would play around the fountains.

Tell me how I can not bring my camera along when I have such a willing –not to mention super cute! –subject like this one? (Without prompting or direction from anyone, she adopted this pose and patiently waited for me to take her picture.)

Not to be left out, Josh did a crazy pose, complete with a silly expression.

Our first week of summer vacation was packed with play dates practically every single day of the week.  This week is no different.  The kids are having so much fun.

…and the summer has just begun.  There is still our annual blueberry-picking trip, a reunion with the cousins to look forward to.

How is your summer coming along?

Do head on over to Sharon’s (The Covert Lens) and check out how she has been spending hers.

(The Creativity Project is a monthly blog circle with a new theme each month. We have a number of new friends playing along this month. Do drop by and visit this wonderful circle of photographers –Becky, Scarlett, Maddy, Katherine, Sharon, Melinda, Marvett, Julia, and Sandra.)

Swim, Swim, Swim!

Look at this  little goldfish go!

03 July 2012

When I announced that we’re going to the beach this morning, Josh immediately asked if we could go to Big Wave Bay.  He likes to jump the waves and would venture far out and “ride” the waves back in.

Of course, Zoë had to have a few turns on the board as well.  I think I’ll have to get one for her own as well.  She was totally having a blast out there.
Both of them protested loudly when we told them it was time to head back home.
I see us having quite a few more trips to the beach this summer.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday | Space

I don’t think I’d ever missed Scavenger Hunt Sunday ever since I’d first decided to play along.  But.  I’d missed the last two Sundays.

I was busy with last-minute end-of-school things for both Josh and Zoë.  We will finally have both of them in one school starting this August.  Zoë  is starting Year 1 and is so excited to be going to big-girl school together with Josh.  Josh finished his Year 2 with flying colors and is happy that he will be in the same class as his best buddy when they go to Year 3 next month (their year level got ‘shuffled’ around).

School holidays are officially here, yay!

1. Space – No dryer, no space to hang laundry inside the flat, no backyard either… so they hang the clothes outside the windows.

(Texture: Kim Klassen’s Let Go)

2.  Sunset – Where we are, we get great sunrises, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a proper sunset from here.   Pulling one from the archives for this one.

3.  Sweet

4.  Hanging Around

5.  Funny Face – Josh is always happy to oblige.

Happy July, everyone!
