The Best Big Brother

I always tell Zoë that she is super lucky to have Josh for a brother.  She is.   I mean, he does tease her and all that, –the way big brothers do, –and they occasionally bicker, but that said, Josh and Zoë get along quite well.  Josh is very sweet with her.  He is very patient when helping Zoë out with concepts.  He is good at breaking things down and explaining stuff to her in a way that she easily grasps.  He thinks his little sister is “cute” when he’s not calling her “annoying.”

It always warms my heart whenever I see and hear them playing together.  They would cook up production numbers –silly ones, of course, –and make us watch them perform.  They would compare notes about the cute stuff they did with their Puffles.  They would watch stampylonghead videos together and laugh at silly jokes.

The other night, I caught them in their room, each with a piece of paper and a pencil, drawing.  Josh was apparently teaching Zoë how to draw superhero characters.  What was really sweet about this was that Zoë is not a superheroes kind of girl, –she prefers to draw girls and flowers and dresses, –yet she sat patiently beside Josh, taking pointers, consulting with Josh on whether to add a moustache or a beard, what kind of a cape the character would need, etc.  I asked Josh afterwards how Zoë did.  He nodded his head approvingly and told me, “She’s actually quite good.”

How sad that we grow up and learn to think so differently than children do! Those little moments are so memorable.

I love those moments too... I'm only child so I'm fascinated by relationship between brothers!

There's nothing like an older sibling...who better to share with and learn from.

I don't believe that they ever fight :P :) They are just too cute for words!

@Jess - They do bicker at times and annoy each other (and me!), but most of the time they get along just fine and play quite well together. I guess it helps that they're pretty close in age (2 years apart) and Z can keep up with him.
