Rainbow Dumplings

Last week, we tried out a new restaurant.  You see, Josh loves xiao long bao and this restaurant serves them –in different flavors and colors.    So, of course, we had to try it.

The ones you see in the sampler below have the following ‘flavors’:  truffle (black), ginseng (green), original (white), cheese (yellow), crab roe (orange), garlic (gray), foie gras (the other orange), “mala” spicy (dark orange).  Pretty, right?  Taste-wise, they’re not bad.  We tried quite a few of their other dishes, too.  Again, they’re okay, but nothing really outstanding.  (We still prefer Din Tai Fung.)

I do love the look of the restaurant, though. They obviously put some thought to the design and layout of the place.  It kind of made me feel like I was having tea back in ancient China.

I have not seen dumplings in so many colors, was it for a special holiday?
Happy Wednesday!!

@Karren - No, they were not for any special occasion. I guess the restaurant just wants to be creative and to jazz up their menu.

I've never seen different colored dumplings like that!! That's a lot of different flavors and the restaurant does have a good look to it.

The restaurant is beautiful! Not a fan of steamed buns, but my daughter loves them! I need to get some for her! She hasn't had any since we left china.
