Working Out

I've been a bit more proactive about getting out and about and moving.  Apart from my weekly hike, I've taken to trying to keep up to at least 10,000 steps a day. I started last week trying to do laps around the track --part running, part brisk walking.  Josh decided to accompany me, which was really sweet of him.  It made all the difference.  He was my cheerleader.  I was originally planning to do only six laps, but ended doing 12.  That felt good. Really good.  (Especially because Chris came back with salted egg potato chips from his trip and we could not help ourselves and dug right into them.)

We've done it a few times since and our best record was 21 laps (me) and 24 laps (Josh). Josh felt so good about that that every other time we've gone; he was gunning to break his own record.

I love our mother-son work-out dates. Beyond the fact that we're keeping fit, I love that I get to spend time with Josh. I love that we have philosophical discussions about everything and nothing. I love that he chooses to go with me over vegging out with a book.  I love that I'm learning stuff about him. I love being with him.

No better plusses than getting a healthy workout and hanging out with one of our children. As my children grew into adults, it was so fun to find out who they were becoming, and what they were all about. Kids are amazing. Sounds like you're having a fun time. :)

Good for you, working out more. And what a sweet son you have. One time I was worried about running a longer distance and a friendly dog came along and ran with me. I considered him my "angel" and encourager. :)

Your photo of the track has wonderful colors and a good wide angle perspective. Good on you for walking around it so much :)

How nice to have someone to exercise with! It does make it seems less like 'work'!
