Games... the Balancing Kind

My kids these days are so into online gaming, watching YouTube videos... basically constantly glued to their electronic gadgets, that it pleases me immensely to see them go back to 'basics' and play a game of chess!  I'm happy to let them have their electronic fun, as long as there are breaks and that they balance out by engaging in non-electronic stuff, like board games, going for some outdoor fun, reading, drawing (even when inspiration is drawn from Pinterest!)... basically anything non-electronic.

My children too! They want to be You Tubers! I have been making them take a break from the electronics! THe weather has been so fantastic here, that it hurts my heart to see the sit inside. So out they go!

We used to do a lot of board games - it's harder and harder now....I make us leave the house for outdoor adventures or even just lunch, cos at least if forces a break without an argument...

I love good old-fashioned non-electronic fun, but I must say, cartoons on the iPad have been used by me to calm down a cranky toddler grandson.

The allure of electronics is so hard to dismiss. Even for me. But sometimes I just have to force myself! Great photo

Awesome that they play chess. I've never really mastered that game, but liked playing it years ago.
